Virtual Award Ceremony: ACF Translation Prize

  • Wed 4 Nov 2020
  • 7:00PM

To round off the third ACF Translation Competition, we will be hosting an online ceremony to congratulate the prize winners for the best German to English translation of contemporary Austrian prose writing.

We are delighted to invite all German-language enthusiasts to share the occasion with us and be part of this online celebration.

We were impressed by the large number of submissions we received and want to say a huge thank you to all the talented participants. We are thrilled to announce the two winners of this year: Helen MacCormac, best professional translator, and Mark Grainger, best aspiring translator.

The event will be hosted by the acclaimed British translator of German literature and head of jury Jamie Bulloch, together with the other jury members Steph Morris (translator), Tina Hartas (book blogger, Trip Fiction) and Ben Yarde-Buller (publisher of Old Street Publishing).

We are particularly pleased to announce that the Austrian authors Susanne Scholl (Die Damen des Hauses) and Elisabeth Klar (Himmelwärts) as well as a representative of the Austrian publishing house ‘Residenz Verlag’ will be present for an exciting, virtual panel discussion.

Another highlight of the event will be the winners reading from their texts and sharing their winning translations with us.

Join us for this special virtual evening and experience cross-border literature in all its facets.
This event will be followed by an interactive Q&A with the jury. Register for tickets to join!

The event will take place at 7PM (GMT) / 8PM (MEZ) on Zoom.

The registration for this event has been closed.
We will be sending out a Zoom invitation with further instructions on the day of the event to everyone who has signed up.
