Freely adapted from Xavier de Maistre’s 'Voyage autour de ma chambre' (1794), by Austrian director Petra Freimund, Mandy Gordon, Ian Hoare and Simona Hughes.
Acclaimed travel writer Michael Masterson finds himself reluctantly housebound for the duration. What is to be done? He thinks he’s found the solution: a comprehensive guided tour of his bedroom and everything in it. But what he discovers on this latest expedition is not quite what he expected.
Over 200 years later, this radical adaptation celebrates the extraordinary resonance the original holds in a post-Covid world.
The play is presented as part of the summer festival Love [and Survival] in a Time of Covid: A celebration of our stories which reflects on how we’ve survived the past year and celebrates our re-emergence taking place over four weeks, in a mixture of outdoor and indoor venues, from 25th June – 18th July
