Contemporary music is commonly afflicted with the opinion to be inaccessible. That this view points to the realm of many other prejudices on contemporary music, is proven by the works of some thirty young composers, which were united in the framework of the Soundings Platform at the Austrian Cultural Forum in London over the past 9 years. In the panel discussion Judith Serota (former Executive Director of Spitalfields Festival), Guy Dammann (music critic for The Guardian and lecturer at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama) and Alasdair Nicolson (composer and artistic director of St Magnus International Festival 2012) will explore how to engage with contemporary classical music reaching out equally to the public as well as young performers.
