Soundings III – Exploring the Voice

  • 17 Apr 2007 — 20 Apr 2007

From 17th to 20th April 2007 the Austrian composers Marcel Reuter, Bernhard Gander, Gerald Resch and Joanna Wozny together with their UK counterparts Bryn Harrison, Dobrinka Tabakova, Ed Bennett and Geoff Hannan will work with musicians The Ossian Ensemble, directed by Darren Bloom as well as the acclaimed accordionist, Krassimir Sterev from Klangforum Wien (who will perform Bernhard Gander’s world premiere of fluc’n’flex). Austrian and UK singers, Johanna von der Deken, Clemens Kölbl, Loré Lixenberg and Andy Morton will also take part and will workshop specially composed musical Haikus that will eventually form a Haiku Song Cycle. As in previous years, discussions and interviews will be led by distinguished music critic Annette Morreau and Soundings project manager Andrea Rauter.

In November 2007 Soundings will again collaborate with the the British Music Information Centre (BMIC) in their Cutting Edge Festival. The complete Haiku Song Cycle, some works from the April concerts as well as works from previous Soundings composers will be performed.
