With its origin in early Computer Music, Electropop draws upon synthesized textures and combines vocals with synthetically generated beats. After years of pioneering groundwork by Kraftwerk, the genre first turned commercial in the 80s and enjoyed a booming revival in recent years, due to artists such as Lily Allen or Zweiraumwohnung, famously remixed by German DJ Paul Kalkbrenner. We are curious what Electropop means 30 years after its inception and have invited New York based Austrian singer Maria Neckam to launch her group Milán’s debut EP titled Voices. Neckam initially made a name for herself in New York's modern jazz scene. Her debut single, You, reflects her love for haunting melodies, modern yet accessible harmony, and hefty beats.
