This concert offers a rare opportunity to hear some of the best singers and pianists from the Royal College of Music perform the complete settings of the (Italienisches Liederbuch) by the influential yet controversial Austrian composer, Joseph Marx (1882-1964).
Marx set all but one of the 17 poems by Paul Heyse within the space of 8 days and his lieder style, although heavily influenced by Hugo Wolf, has a compelling aesthetic which displays a deep love of nature and an unashamed affinity with luxuriant romanticism.
The conert is devised and peresnted by Natasha Loges and Norbert Meyn in collaboration with pianist Christopher Glynn.
