Following its successful recital of Schubert Mayrhofer settings, the Royal Academy of Music’s Song Circle returns to the ACF with a programme of Schubert Lieder to the poetry of Johann Gabriel Seidl, the Viennese poet who wrote such poems as ‘Die Taubenpost’, ‘Der Wanderer an den Mond‘, ‚Das Zugenglocklein‘ and ‚Die Manner sind mechant‘. Students will also perform Carl Loewe’s setting of Seidl’s ‘Die Uhr’– arguably the most popular ballad in the Lieder repertoire.
The evening is introduced by Richard Stokes, Professor of Lieder at the RAM.
