In conjunction with our exhibition Adjacent Realities, the ACF presents a performance evening with interventions by Denise Kottlett featuring Stefanie Sourial, Jude Crilly, Naomi Fitzsimmons and Liv Fontaine. Stages are, after all, places where we place actions and behaviours on exhibit, where reality meets fiction and simulated and generic characters encounter real visitors.
The often burlesque and physical work by Kottlett and Sourial question established structures of appropriated mythological figures and narratives, whereas Crilly’s piece can be seen as an open structure between sound, performance and installation.
In addition to their performances on the opening evening Fitzsimmon’s piece will explore the role of audience-as-actor, and Fontain will show a work focusing on the theatres of sexuality, parameters of gender, and the commodities of the art world.
