Park Nights 2015 – Fleur Melbourn, Thelma & Louise

  • 31 Jul 2015 — 7 Aug 2015

At the ACF London and the Serpentine Pavilion 2015 designed by selgascano

Performance at 9pm

Tickets via Ticketweb or the Serpentine Galleries: +44 (0)207 298 1548

In this new commission incorporating film, theatre and installation, artist Fleur Melbourn presents a performance in which figures from the afterlife discuss mortality and the notion of blasphemy. A modern-day Dante leads the audience on a journey into the Inferno. There, he encounters Thelma and Louise, whose last act of defiance had sent them flying over the Grand Canyon and into the world of the dead. Performed by DeVon Jackson, Charlotte King and Molly Small.

A prologue to the performance, the screening of Fleur Melbourn’s 2015 film, Thelma and Louise: Blood Falls will be screened at the ACF London between 12-9pm on Friday 31 July as part of a programme of exhibitions and events curated at the ACF by Victor Wang. A journey into the decomposing bodies of the eponymous characters, now turned into vast landscapes, visits their anatomy as the two women sing to each other, reliving stories of their encounter with the afterlife.

Visitors are advised to allow at least 20 minutes to reach the Pavilion from the ACF. Click here for a map of the walk between the two venues. The film screening is not ticketed and will be open to the public until Friday 7 August (opening times M-F 9am - 5pm).
