Panel Discussion: Voicing the Unspeakable - A Tribute to Survivors of Nazi Terror

  • Tue 28 Jun 2022
  • 7:00PM

To honour survivor George Vulkan, who sadly passed away this week, we are reposting the recording of this event with survivors of Nazi terror that took place in June 2022.

We are honoured to host this special event offering our audience the opportunity to bear witness to Austrian-born survivors of Nazi terror engaging in a panel discussion on topics of past, present and future!

The aim of this event is to celebrate the survivors by presenting their contributions to an oral history project called 'Menschenleben' conducted in 2021, where they shared their stories to be safely archived in the Österreichische Mediathek– Austria’s archive for sound recordings and videos on cultural and contemporary history.

The event will feature an introduction to the interview project, including a premiere of video extracts followed by a panel discussion led by historian Bernadette Edtmaier and the survivors. This is an extraordinary opportunity to hear from the survivors themselves and their views on topics such as: refugees today, identity as well as the personal experiences of displacement and loss.

Following the presentation and panel discussion, we will open up the conversation to our audience for further questions.
