New Artists Series: Rosalind Ventris (viola), Bernadette Bartos (piano)

  • Tue 29 Nov 2011
  • 7:00PM

Described as a ‘remarkable talent’ for her performance of Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with Tamsin Little, British violist Rosalind Ventris is widely recognised as among the most exciting young artists of her generation. At 17 she was the youngest competitor at the 2006 Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition, where she received the Gwynne Edwards memorial prize for the most promising British entrant.

She will be accompanied by the Austrian pianist Bernadette Bartos who graduated in 2010 from the University of Music & Performing Arts in Vienna and has since performed in most of Austria's major concert venues, including the Musikverein. She is now studying piano accompaniment at the Royal College of Music, London with Roger Vignoles and Simon Lepper. The programme will include Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata and Ivan Eröd’s Blumenstück for solo viola.
