The next concert in the New Artist Series presents an outstanding young Austrian pianist/composer. Two epic works - Beethoven's last keyboard sonata and Ravel's evocation of an old world dancing itself into extinction - frame three novelties: a hugely entertaining but rarely heard piece by Busoni, a short work by Florian Feilmair himself, and (linked to the dance theme of Ravel's piece) the premiere of a new Tango for piano specially written for this concert by Austrian composer Helmut Rogl.
Born in 1989, Feilmair studied in Linz, then at the Vienna Music University, and leapt to attention through two major competition successes: the Klassikpreis Österreich for a performance of Beethoven’s 3rd Concerto, and first prize in the international Neue Sterne competition, Germany. He has played at the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Brucknerhaus, Linz and is beginning to establish a career abroad.
The concert will be introduced by the well-known music critic and Daily Telegraph columnist Michael White.
The Austrian Cultural Forum London would like to express its gratitude to Mrs. Aline Foriel-Destezet who generously supported this event.
