Mélange Oriental

Jerusalem is a melting pot of peoples, cultures, traditions, hopes and faiths. It is a place between history and undefined future. Musicians of different cultural and stylistic backgrounds come together for a special performance featuring interpretations of traditional and original music on Western and Oriental instruments, improvisations and ambient sounds recorded on selected sites in Jerusalem (Muezzin prayer, Jewish chant at the Wailing Wall, Armenian Monks, Shabat Shofar etc.).

Renowned cellist, Erich-Oskar Huetter founded the Sounding Jerusalem Festival in 2005. He is joined in this performance by the accordianist Stefan Heckel and quanun musician Mahran Moreb who is traveling from Israel/Palestine especially for this concert.

Mélange Oriental, as the name suggests, blends these elements and creates a new language to tell the story of a sounding city.
