Wolfgang Redik is best known as the violinist of the acclaimed Vienna Piano Trio.  Born in Graz, Austria he studied with Prof. Klaus Eichholz at the Graz Academy of Music and completed his studies with Prof. Michael Schnitzler at the University of Music in Vienna. Next to his studies, he attended numerous masterclasses, among others with Isaac Stern, Jaime Laredo and Pamela Franck. In 1994 he recieved his diploma with distinction and the „Special Prize of Honour“, awarded by the Austrian Arts- and Science Minestry.

As a chamber-musician and soloist, Wolfgang Redik appears regularly at the leading music festivals.  In 1989 he founded the Vienna Piano Trio, together with cellist Marcus Trefny and pianist Stefan Mendl.  The trio has performed internationally and will be "Ensemble in Residence" at the Wigmore Hall in 2011/1012.

From 1989 until 2008, Wolfgang Redik was teaching at the University of Music in Graz, where he holds his own class for violin and chamber-music. He frequently accepts invitations as a tutor for chamber-music masterclasses and international youth-orchestras. Since 2007 he is professor for chambermusic at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg.

The Masterclass is free and will be held in Room 210 at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Students should ask at front desk reception (entrance on Silk Street) for directions to the room.
