The two-day symposium celebrates the 200th anniversary of the death of the celebrated Austrian composer and piano virtuoso Joseph Woelfl (1773–1812). Nine Musicologists from Great Britain, Austria, France, Germany, Poland and Thailand will discuss the importance of the musician who became one of the most well-known composers in Great Britain in his time. Three concerts will offer a wonderful opportunity to get acquainted with Woelfl’s music.
On Sunday 27 May a special service will be held at St. Marylebone Church accompanied by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque in the historic churchyard by Austrian Ambassador Dr. Emil Brix.
