Austrian artist filmmaker Friedl vom Gröller (formerly Kubelka) introduces and presents a screening of her work for the first time in London, followed by a post-screening discussion with writer, artist and independent film curator Lucy Reynolds. Initially known for her conceptual photographic self-portraits and images of avant-garde filmmakers such as Jonas Mekas, she began making films herself in the late 1960s. Inviting her sitters to gaze motionless into the camera for 3 minutes, these black and white 16mm films engage in a filmic dialogue of intimacy and playfulness.
