Join us for special closing event of our exhibition featuring a Screening of Criollo (2017) by Scottish Artist Ross Birrell. The short film was commissioned for documenta 14 and features an Argentine criollo horse standing at the Artists’ Gate entrance to Central Park at the end of sixth Avenue / Avenue of Americas, New York. Criollo a variant of ‘creole’, holds associations of ‘creolisation’, ‘cultural mixing’ (Stuart Hall) and ‘entanglement’ (Edouard Glissant) in the context of globalisation and migration.
The Curator Alexandra-Maria Toth will also take interested visitors on a guided tour of the exhibition. This is a wonderful final opportunity to visit this exhibition if you have not already done so.
Encounters / Begegnungen invites six artists from Austria and the UK, to explore the relationship between human and animal in a variety of mediums and practices.
The exhibition features work by Ryan C. Brown, Jack Jubb, Hatty Nestor, Katharina Schilling, Miriam Stoney and Juan Fransisco Vera.
