The Eggner Trio perform two of the greatest piano trios ever composed. Beethoven’s Op. 70 No. 1 is easily the most dramatic of his trios, with a slow movement reputedly inspired by a scene from Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Ravel’s limpidly scored masterpiece was conceived just before the First World War and is one of the last of his works to be unscarred by that gruesome conflict in which he took part.
