Doron Rabinovici at the ACF London

  • Tue 24 Feb 2015
  • 7:00PM

Israeli-Austrian writer Doron Rabinovici will read an extract from Elsewhere, his latest novel, which confronts the complex themes of identity, belonging, anti-Semitism and Zionism through the prism of a Jewish family in which old secrets are disclosed and the truth is seemingly forever concealed. Rabinovici will be in conversation with the translator and essayist Tess Lewis, who has translated Elsewhere

Doron Rabinovici was born in Tel Aviv and lives and works in Vienna. He has been awarded numerous literary prizes, including the Clemens-Brentano prize of Heidelberg and the Jean-Améry prize. In Austria Doron Rabinovici is known as an intellectual voice against racism and anti-semitism.

Tess Lewis is a translator and essayist whose translations from German and French include works by Peter Handke, Alois Hotschnig, Julya Rabinowich, Lukas Bärfuss, Melinda Nadj Abonji, Pascal Bruckner, and Jean-Luc Benoziglio. She has just been awarded the ACFNY Translation Prize 2015 for her translation of Maja Haderlap's Engel des Vergessens (Angel of Oblivion).
