In this spoken word performance, letters written between poets Paul Celan and Ingeborg Bachmann in the shadow of Auschwitz reflect the horror and disorientation of the world after the Holocaust. Set in an urgent, vibrant post war cultural landscape, their love affair was a rich, troubled meeting of poetic imaginations. Actors will read the letters, interwoven with sound and video, followed by a short talk about the writing and the lasting influence of Bachmann’s and Celan’s work.
This event will also be staged on Saturday 5 October, 2.30pm in the Weston Pavilion at Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre.
Tickets can only be booked as part of a day or weekend ticket for The Rest Is Noise Festival.
