Artists, musicians and academics come together for a special commemorative event celebrating the literary life of the celebrated Austrian scientist Carl Djerassi following his death in January 2015.
Carl Djerassi (born 1923 in Vienna), was a novelist, playwright and emeritus professor of chemistry at Stanford University. He was one of the few American scientists to have been awarded both the National Medal of Science (for the first synthesis of an oral contraceptive) and the National Medal of Technology. He published two autobiographies, a memoir, as well as a collection of short stories, novels and plays for the theatre and classroom.
In 2009 the ACF London presented one of his plays Carl Djerassi: Schönberg on Parnassus.
