Ensemble Amorpha celebrate the Britten centenary at the ACF London by looking at the connection between Britten and the Mahlers. Songs by Britten, Alma and Gustav Mahler will be performed with Britten’s Nocturne, dedicated to Alma Mahler, forming the centrepiece of the concert. This music and the friendship between Alma and Britten in the USA will be put into context with a short talk on these two highly influential 20th century figures, by Paul Kildea, author of Benjamin Britten: A Life in the Twentieth Century.
