Bodies of Water

  • 20 Sep 2023 — 24 Sep 2023
  • 11:00AM

As part of the London Design Fair 2023, Slash Arts boat gallery on Regent’s Canal presents ‘Bodies of Water’ - a unique, multidisciplinary art show from 20 – 24 September.

This contemporary exhibition delves into ‘how patriarchy intends to make women and nature flow, to be shaped and to behave a certain way’ whilst exploring the idea of ecofeminism. Emerging in the late 20th century this social and political movement seeks to challenge systems of power and domination which are responsible for gender oppression and the degradation of the environment.

Bodies of water brings together London- and Austria- based artists to discover the intersect and resilience of both water and the female body in the face of adverse environments. The art show features dance, performance, music and participatory workshops to put forward a vision of an ecofeminist utopia. The overarching theme is also reflected in the venue, a houseboat, merging the public and the domestic sphere.

Slash Arts is an organisation founded in 2020 at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic which supports a wide community of emerging contemporary artists and curators during the early stages of their professional careers. Moreover, they provide sponsorship for initiatives that are deeply committed to social or environmental causes while encouraging experiential work.
