This spring, Salzburg’s BODHI PROJECT returns to London and Leeds for their annual exchange programme. Together with UK based postgraduate dance companiesn VERVE (Leeds) and EDge (London), BODHI PROJECT will present new works.
Each year the company commissions choreographers at the forefront of the international scene. This year is no exception, with works from renowned artists Lisi Estaras and Guy Nader l Maria Campos.
Intense emotions and raw forms of expression are behind No Human No Cry! by Lisi Estaras. Drawing from the artistic vision of Art Brut and the wild avant-garde performances of Valeska Gert (1892-1978), art that is not honed by academic conventions forms and opens up a glimpse into the secrets of intuitive creativity led exuberance and empathy. The choreographic process is about the physicality of intense emotions and the absurdity in human attempts to overcome them.
The new creation Routes by Guy Nader and Maria Campos steers our attention to a journey of multiple paths inhabited by the complicity of six people that constantly defy gravity finding different strategies of cooperation that make the complex paths and situations achievable.
Through high precision partnering, dynamic constellations emphasizing a unique mass of bodies, GN|MC propose a perceptual experience through persistence and perseverance, evoking an eternal present rooted in patterns of repetition and accumulation of oscillation creating complex mechanisms in space and time.
