We are delighted to welcome the outstanding Austrian-based soprano Shira Karmon and renowned pianist Maria Garzon live in concert, presenting a unique 'Liederabend' featuring a programme full of various styles and languages, reflecting their differing origins. 

The programme explores works by Austrian composer Hugo Wolf, Silesia-born Austrian composer Viktor Ullmann, the Spanish composers Turina and De Falla and the English composer Benjamin Britten .

The duo has recently worked on Viktor Ullmann's pieces set to music for soprano and piano, which will be recorded through the Heritage label this year.
This recital will be featuring a selection of these rarely performed works.


Soprano Shira Karmon was born in Israel and has performed at various opera houses in Europe, such as the Staatstheater Saarbrücken, Teatro comunale di Bolzano, the Opera National du Rhin and international festivals in Verbier, Aberdeen and Chiemgau.

As a concert singer she performed at the Berliner Konzerthaus, the Lincoln Center in New York, the Styriarte Graz, the Brucknerhaus Linz and many more and visited various countries such as Argentina, Italy or Poland.

She holds several prizes from competitions such as “Lied of the 20th und 21st Century” (Kulturkreis der Deutschen Wirtschaft) or best performance of an Israeli piece from the Israeli Music Institute.

Karmon’s latest album was recorded with pianist Paul Gulda and features songs by Mozart, Beethoven, Schönberg, Bernstein, Berg, Laks, Gulda and many more. It was released in November 2021 through the label Gramola in Vienna.


Maria Garzon has performed all over the world in such venues as the Wigmore Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Athenaeum in Madrid, the Athenaeum in Athens and the Mozarteum in Salzburg to name but a few. She has also taken part in a number of music festivals including Salzburg, Granada, the Canary Islands, Thessaloniki, Buxton and Malvern.

Maria recorded CDs for several lables. Her recordings also include the complete piano sonatas by J L. Dussek and In October 2012 Viktor Ullmann’s four last piano sonatas, in 2018 she released the rest of them, all for the label of Heritage in London. In 2016 she produced the documentary “Viktor Ullmann – Biography of a Recording”

As well as performing, Maria has given master classes and lectures at the Royal Academy of Music and Morley College in London, the Music Conservatoires in Uralsk, Barbados and Beijing.
