The Beethoven Intercollegiate Piano Competition returns to the Austrian Cultural Forum London where it first began in 1993, sponsored by Bösendorfer, and organised by the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe. This competition represents the culmination of many local Beethoven competitions held in the UK’s leading music colleges and conservatoires, the winners of which then go on to compete in this ‘higher order’ competition so that music lovers can enjoy the thrill of ‘spotting’ top young Beethoven interpreters of the future even before the general concert-going public gets the chance. Winners from the last four years have been auditioned and awarded Wigmore Hall debut recitals quite apart from the other concert engagements which winning First Prize brings with it.
