'Vorurteile oder was?' is a story about friendship and the challenges of growing up with a multicultural background in Austria. Aynur, Mircea, Melek, Patrizia and Adrian are friends who have a lot in common: stress with parents and teachers; problems finding the right apprenticeship; prejudices that make life difficult for them. But above all, they have fun together. They start to enact prejudices that they encounter in everyday life on the street. But what if their own parents find out about this game and don't understand it at all?

With great empathy, Elisabeth Etz creates snippets of young people's lives that are striking in their realism and humour, addressing the topic of migration with refreshing nonchalance.

Elisabeth Etz, born in Vienna in 1979, studied literature and linguistics in Vienna and Berlin. She enjoys getting to know other countries and learning languages, having spent a year in Milan and Istanbul. In 2004, she won the Dixi Children's Literature Prize. Since then, she has been writing many books and short stories. She has recently won the Austrian Science Book Prize and the Austrian Children's and Youth Book Prize for ‘Ein Baum kommt selten allein’. She also teaches German as a second language in Vienna, where she currently lives with her family.
