To mark the 50th anniversary of Austrian actor Peter Lorre’s death, the ACF will screen two of his most famous films: Der Verlorene (The Lost One) and Fritz Lang's M.
The second film in our Peter Lorre double bill is Fritz Lang’s acclaimed ‘M’ from 1931 which made Lorre an international film star. The German drama-thriller was Lang’s first talking film. Set in Berlin, Lorre stars as the serial child killer Hans Becket who, while evading police, is captured by the criminal community who put him on trial in a kangaroo court. The police are forced to rescue him from the underworld so he can be tried in the courts of law.
