The Barbican opens their City Visions Festival with this fantastic directorial project about the effects and meaning of architecture.

Director Wim Wenders brings together six acclaimed filmmakers, including Robert Redford, the late Austrian filmmaker Michael Glawogger and Michael Madsen who each bring their own artistic approach to allow six iconic buildings – the Berlin Philharmonic, the National Library of Russia, Norway's Halden Prison, the Salk Institute of California, the Oslo Opera House and the Centre Pompidou in Paris - to speak for themselves.

Cathedrals of Culture takes the viewer on a beguiling trip, exploring how each of these landmarks reflect our cultures and aspirations.

Michael Glawogger's Megacities will screen as part of the festival on 2 October 2014. More information here.
