The Kulturbotschaften Südsteiermark project is taking place for the 2nd time this year. As part of the project week from 3 to 8 November 2025, we are offering artists exciting opportunities for creative work in the middle of the vineyards.

Are you a student or artist who is interested in photography? Whether analogue, digital, experimental or interdisciplinary - this is your chance We are looking for young artists, media artists or students who understand photography not just as a technique, but as an artistic tool - with all its possibilities:

• Digital and analogue photography,
• Unconventional techniques such as solarisation, chemigram, scanner exposure, cyanotype, collage or mixed media (e.g. video, works on paper and painting, etc.) and everything in between that characterises your image finding.
• Individuals of all nationalities and genders who are not older than 35 years can apply.

Theme 2025: "Essence of Southern Styria”

During your residency, you will have the opportunity to realise your artistic ideas and realise your visions. Your work should illuminate the identity of Southern Styria from a contemporary perspective.

Whats included:

• A week in southern Styria to work creatively
• Living and working in a winery (incl. breakfast and one additional meal/day).
• A fee of € 500 to support your artistic work and any travel expenses incurred
• The opportunity to become part of an international network of artists.
• Presentation of the artworks at the final event with an audience (any material costs for the exhibits in

the final exhibition will be covered in coordination with the project management).

This special project promotes collaboration between international artists and the region's wineries. The participating wineries open their doors and offer the artists a platform to realise their creative visions. At the end of the project week (Saturday, 8 November 2025), the resulting works will be presented to the public in a joint exhibition. One of your works remains at the winery where you spent the project week . You make the selection together with your host winery.
