The NORLA keynote lecture at Bristol Translates Summer School, by the acclaimed translator Damion Searls on ‘Reading like a Translator’, will take place online on Monday 7 July, 5-6pm (BST).

The Bristol Summer School 2025 will take place online from 7-11 July 2025.
Aimed at practising translators at any stage of their career and at language enthusiasts who want to explore the world of literary translation, Bristol Translates offers the opportunity to work with leading professional translators to translate texts across different literary genres.
Bristol Translates summer school takes place entirely online, making it accessible to participants around the world. Workshop groups are limited to a maximum of 12 students. The programme features language-specific translation workshops, both into and out of English, as well as hands-on sessions about various aspects of today’s translation sector, industry talks and professional and networking sessions.
In addition to literary translators themselves, Bristol Translates speakers include publishers, agents, editors, researchers and writers. Participants have had the opportunity to pitch their project to decision-makers in publishing, and take part in exclusive competitions.
