Lillian is the feature fiction debut by the Austrian photographer and film director Andreas Horvath. Lillian, a young Russian emigrant in New York has discovered that her visa has run out and decides to walk back to her native Russia. En route, she suffers heat and cold, hunger and thirst. Horvath’s score turns sinister and menacing. But still she trudges on through the metaphorical emptiness of America, surrounded by the omnipresent cheer of radio announcers who comment on the big topics of life: the weather, sports and money.
Austria, 2019, 128min, Directed by Andreas Horvath
