Seethaler was born in Vienna and is author of several novels including A Whole Life, shortlisted for the International Booker, and The Tobacconist. Here he talks to Karen Leeder, a writer, academic and translator who teaches German and is the Schwarz-Taylor Chair of German Language and Literature at the University of Oxford.
