Performance: Concrete Scottish Connections – Finlay, Jandl, Gomringer and Satie in Edinburgh

  • Wed 22 Oct 2025
  • 6:00PM

The ACF is happy to announce that German performer Florian Kaplick, known for fusing music, art and spoken word, will premier an exciting performance at Edinburgh’s iconic Playfair Library.

Experience the legacy of Hamilton Finlay, Ernst Jandl and Eugen Gomringer through an immersive evening of storytelling and (sound)poetry intertwined with the enchanting piano music by Erik Satie.

The poetic cosmos of concrete poetry is rooted in the year 1925 — when Ian Hamilton Finlay, Austrian poet and author Ernst Jandl, and Eugen Gomringer were born. 30 years later they were shaping the avant-garde movement of ‘concrete poetry’, a bold literary movement, which broke linguistic barriers and reimagined the power of words.

Now, in an age of growing disconnection in an increasingly connected world, their tireless drive for cross border collaboration and appreciation is being revisited and celebrated.

Join us to celebrate a poetic revolution that still speaks across borders!
