We are delighted to announce that the judges of this year's ACF Translation Prize have selected the winners!
The Austrian Cultural Forum 2024 Translation Prize once again proved popular, attracting thirty entries from established literary translators in Category A, and over fifty from aspiring translators in Category B.
In Category A there was very little to separate the best entries. In the end, however, our winner is Imogen Taylor for her stylish translation of a passage from Vladimir Vertlib’s Die Heimreise. The runner-up in this category is Anna Wright.
The overall standard of the Category B entries - a translation of Barbi Marković’s short story ‘Ada Bojana’, from her prizewinning collection Minihorror - was highly impressive. The winner is Esther Rathbone, who was a runner-up in the 2022 competition. The two runners-up in this category are Hannah Vinter and Frances Clarke.
Thank you to all the entrants in this year’s competition and congratulations to the winners and runners-up!
The prizegiving ceremony will be on 14 November 2024, 7 pm, at the Austrian Cultural Forum London.
