A classic piece of period melodrama, Where I Belong follows Rosemarie (Natalie Press), who lives with her father in a small town in postwar England, having fled the Nazis in Austria. She is working hard to become a secretary when she meets Anton, an old friend of her father’s who has made a successful life for himself here. They instantly fall in love, but Rosemarie will come up against the harsh reality of what it means to be a woman in the 1950s. Including several scenes shot in East London, this is a beautifully realised and powerful debut feature. This film was directed by the ACF's brilliant film curator Fritz Urschitz!
