Following the ‘Sissi’ screenings the ACF presents two films which went on to define the stars of the trilogy. Death Watch, staring Romy Schneider, is set in a future where death from illness has become extremely unusual. When Schneider’s character is diagnosed with an incurable disease she becomes a celebrity and is besieged by journalists. Without her knowledge or consent a TV company sets out to create a reality show about her final days entitled Death Watch.
