Hannah Logic 2007 - 2017 by Austrian documentary and fashion photographer Britta Burger, is a 10-year photographic portrait of her ex-assistant and close friend Hannah, who started working with her as a 19-year old.
The series of photographs, a mix of personal snapshots, intimate portraits, and commissioned documentary and fashion stories also chronicles the radical political and social changes that transformed London in the last ten years.
One of the oldest images in the exhibition shows Hannah sitting on the roof of her South London squat. It was the cover of an issue of Austrian broadsheet Der Standard’s weekend supplement Rondo about the booming, creative and internationally admired London squat scene. More recent pictures, taken after the squatting of domestic property had become illegal and draconic austerity measures had taken hold, depict a bleaker post-Brexit Britain characterised by the exodus of young artists.
