Established in 1947, the Edinburgh International Film Festival is world renowned for discovering and promoting the very best in international cinema - and for heralding and debating changes in global filmmaking. Intimate in its scale, ambitious in its scope, and fuelled by pure passion for cinema in all its manifestations, EIFF seeks to spotlight the most exciting and innovative new film talent, in a setting steeped in history.

Therapy for a Vampire (Der Vampir auf der Couch)

A visually beautiful comedy where the laughs run as freely as the blood.

Bored of spending eternity with his current wife, the vampire Count Geza von Közsnöm seeks assistance from Dr Sigmund Freud. Meanwhile, the Count’s wife is in despair because she can’t see her own beauty in the mirror. A young painter is seemingly part of the solution, but his girlfriend’s likeness to the Count’s long-lost love is a dangerous new problem. A genre piece executed with the look and charm of a Jean-Pierre Jeunet production.

David Ruehm / Austria, Switzerland / 2014 / 87 mins

With Tobias Moretti, Jeanette Hain, Cornelia Ivancan, Dominic Oley, David Bennent
