Beloved Muse – Emilie Flöge

  • Wed 23 Jan 2019
  • 7:00PM

Emilie Flöge, reformist fashion designer, life companion to Gustav Klimt and an integral part of Vienna’s fin de siècle art movement. Those are the facts, but who was Emilie Flöge really? Beloved Muse re-imagines the part of Emilie’s life that she deliberately burnt, and rescues a radical and extraordinary woman from the ashes. This one-woman play is written by UK writer Penny Black and performed by Austrian actress Maxi Blaha accompanied by Austrian bass player Georg Buxhofer.

The play was commissioned and first performed at the Belvedere in Vienna. It now travels to London with three unique performances that will each give this work a new context: at the ACF London, alongside the Barbican’s Modern Couples exhibition and finally as part of RA Lates: Vienna Cabaret Night accompanying the Klimt/Schiele exhibition.
